The July 2018 Trivia Question

Which of the following Liberty Bells was NOT on display at the 1893 World’s Fair?
A.  the original Liberty Bell from Philadelphia.
B.  a “New Liberty Bell” cast in honor of the Fair.
C.  a Liberty Bell made out of oranges and other citrus fruit.
D.  a Liberty Bell made out of grains of wheat, oats, and rye.
E.  a Liberty Bell made out of Cracker Jack.

A stumper! No one submitted the correct answer, which is E. In addition to the original Liberty Bell on display in the Pennsylvania Building, a new Columbian Liberty Bell was cast especially for the 1893 World’s Fair. A Liberty Bell made of fruits made for a fragrant and colorful display in the Horticultural Building, while a Liberty Bell made of grains was on display in Pennsylvania pavilion inside the Agricultural Building. A Liberty Bell made of caramel corn sounds delicious, but was not (to our knowledge) available on the fairgrounds.

The “new” Columbian Liberty Bell, cast especially for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition.
