Nov. 11, 2023: “Perspective of Wonder” talk by Cindy Angell Keeling (Chicago)

“Perspective of Wonder: A Tour of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition”
By Cindy Angell Keeling
Saturday, November 11, from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Chicago Public Library, Uptown Branch (929 W. Buena Ave.)

Author Cindy Angell Keeling will offer a fascinating introduction to the spectacular Chicago World’s Fair in her presentation “Perspective of Wonder: A Tour of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition” on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

In this entertaining presentation, Cindy will take you on a tour of the fairgrounds using vintage photographs, maps, and artwork. Which building had the most ostentatious dome? What in the world is “staff,” and why was it important to the Fair? Which concession featured a donkey ride up a mountain? Travel back in time with Cindy to find out. Bring your enthusiasm and a sense of wonder.

Cindy Angell Keeling is the author of the new historical fiction novel Dream City Dreaming (described in our post here), and she will have copies available for purchase and to sign. We are hosting this event and plan on displaying some Columbian Exposition collectibles for guests to browse.

This free event, open to all, runs from 2:00-3:00 pm at the Chicago Public Library, Uptown Branch (929 W. Buena Ave. in Chicago). Limited parking is available, and the library is very close to train and bus lines.
